Revival for
Survival is raising funds to purchase 100 pairs of brand-new
shoes for homeless men in the Greater Houston area. We will
distribute the shoes, socks and hygiene items in November 2020
during an outreach where we will demonstrate the love of Jesus
Christ in both word and deed.
Why are you giving shoes to the homeless?
Shoes are one of the most requested items that homeless men ask
for. The homeless are usually on the move and constantly
walking. Their shoes are worn out, often with holes so their
feet are exposed and often the shoes are not the proper size.
Why new shoes? Can I donate gently used shoes?
The Lord says in the Bible that He makes all things new
(Revelation 21:5) so we want to demonstrate this in a practical
way and to let those that are homeless know that they are worthy
to receive new items regardless of their current situation
because the Lord is the provider of good gifts and He gives to
us as a sign of His love for us. Also, many of the homeless have
fragile health so we don't want to give them shoes that cannot
properly protect their feet or may cause an infection or other
health issues.
What size shoes do I need to purchase? What color?
We need men's shoes sizes 6 to 12. Although we would accept any
new shoes, we would prefer for you to purchase dark-colored
(i.e., gray, black, navy, etc.) shoes instead of white shoes so
they won't draw attention to tempt a thief to steal them. Also,
the amount of dirt that will accumulate due to prolonged wear
and use of the same shoes would be less visible on darker
colored shoes.
Where can I purchase shoes?
Based on our research, you should be able to find a nice pair of
tennis shoes for $18-$25 at Walmart, Amazon and Academy Sports &
Outdoors. You may also find reasonably priced shoes in other
stores especially in the Sale and Clearance sections.
Where is the shoe drop-off location?
If you plan on attending Revival for the Survival of the USA on
10/10/2020 then you can drop-off the shoes in the Volunteer Area
